Alan Naysmith, LLB
Wain & Naysmith owes much of its reputation for reliable, practical legal advice and customer service ethos to Alan Naysmith.
Alan has been with the firm in Blenheim as a partner and director for over thirty years. He has ably led the law firm as it has evolved to service the changing needs of the province.
Marlborough itself has changed greatly over this period from pastoral farming to a thriving wine region with international investment. This has meant a need for astute legal services overlaid with in-depth local knowledge.
Over the years Alan has seen hundreds of significant property and commercial transactions, land subdivisions, leases and all manner of legal arrangements.
Alan’s legal work now predominantly covers residential conveyancing (recognising and avoiding or resolving potential problems), company and commercial law including shareholders’ agreements, business acquisitions and financing, vineyard transactions (sales, purchases, grape supply agreements, restructuring, financing), trusts and asset/estate planning including enduring powers of attorney.
Outside work, Alan enjoys travelling and spending time with family, especially the new grand-child. He is a regular mountain biker, plays tennis, goes scuba diving and has recently taken on the challenge of bridge.
Alan has been an active community person, serving on, or chairing several local community and sporting boards. He is a past president of the Marlborough District Law Society and a member of Blenheim Rotary Club.
