Jacqueline (Jacki) Eves, BSW (Hons), LLB
Born and raised in Marlborough, Jacki left the region to undertake her university studies and progress her career. She returned in March 2013 and joined Wain & Naysmith.
Jacki covers a broad spectrum of legal advice. She helps clients with relationship property, family law, employment law issues and property law. She also has extensive experience with company law and regulatory matters.
Before moving back to Blenheim, Jacki held a number of corporate legal adviser roles in Wellington. These include legal advisor to the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Justice. She was legal counsel at the Commerce Commission in the area of mergers and acquisitions, and later senior legal counsel at Gas Industry Co, a gas industry regulatory body.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, Jacki practiced care and protection social work, and held policy analyst roles with the Ministries of Social Development, Justice and Maori Affairs. She worked in Japan as an English teacher for the Japanese Government, and was a performance auditor with the Office of the Controller and Auditor General.
Jacki is currently vice president of the Marlborough branch of the New Zealand Law Society, and member of the Executive Council for Marlborough Chamber of Commerce. Previously she served as a Council member of the Law Society’s Wellington branch, and their public and commercial subcommittees. She was also an executive member of the national committee for the Corporate Lawyers Association of New Zealand (CLANZ).
Outside work, Jacki enjoys spending time with her large extended family and is rediscovering Marlborough’s wonderful lifestyle. She is learning to play golf and sail and grabs any opportunity to venture into the Marlborough Sounds.
