Martyn Wilson, B. Com, LLM
Director
Marty’s areas of specialisation are commercial law, property transactions and all aspects of estate planning.
Marty has a Bachelor of Commerce and Management from Lincoln University, and a Masters of Law (LLM) (Honours) from Canterbury University. Born and raised in Blenheim, Marty left Marlborough aged 18 to join the police and returned in 2003 as a practicing lawyer. He spent the first twelve years of his career with the New Zealand police, including time spent as a detective in the CIB and the Armed Offenders Squad.
Marty held a role with the Commerce Commission in Wellington analysing business acquisitions and trade practices for compliance with the Commerce Act, before joining a National law firm to practice corporate and commercial law.
After returning to Blenheim with his young family and spending three years with another Blenheim law firm, focusing on commercial law, property law, trusts, wills and estates, Marty moved to Wain and Naysmith and later became a director.
Outside work Marty is the chairman of the Mick Jellyman Charitable Trust and he served on the Mistletoe Bay Trust for six years. He is currently the Code of Conduct Commissioner for Marlborough Cricket.
Marty has five children spanning primary school to university ages, who enjoy all that Marlborough has on offer.
In the roughly three minutes he has left after work, trustee commitments and five children, Marty unwinds by keeping fit and maintaining his lifestyle property.
