Melanie Timms, BCom, LLB

Associate

Melanie was born and raised on a farm in Marlborough before heading to Canterbury for her University education.

Graduating with both a Commerce degree and a Law degree Melanie joined Gascoigne Wicks in 1997, where she worked as a lawyer for fourteen years.
In 2013 Melanie joined Crichton Loach as an Associate and was part of their merger into Wain & Naysmith in 2014.

Melanie’s work mainly covers property and conveyancing law, trusts, estates, wills and estate planning. She loves working on land dealings such as sale and purchases, subdivisions, leases and financing. Melanie’s farming background gives her a real empathy and understanding for rural land dealings and great local knowledge.

As a busy mum and ‘farmer’s wife’, weekends are all about kids’ activities, the sheep farm and extended family (also farmers). Renovating the old farm villa has been a long-term project, which Melanie says is looking like a lifelong commitment! To unwind, she enjoys gardening and reading as much as possible.
